Hi, my name is Miss Jenna and I am currently Deputy Manager of Little Poppets Nursery. I have also taken on the SENCO role within the nursery and looking forward to getting to know you all.

My passion to work with young children started at a very early age as did my career in childcare. I am 1 of 8 children in my family and being second eldest has meant I have grown up with younger children and being very hands on as I enjoyed being a ‘mother hen’ when helping out my mum with younger siblings.

At the age of 14 I then became a private carer for a younger child with special needs. I worked with this child for over 4 years whilst finishing my school years and training to do my Level 3 Childcare at college. Working with a young child with complex needs developed my own skills and knowledge as well as my passion to help younger children. Whilst training at college I was involved in lots of placement work within nurseries and schools including 1 to 1 support for children who had learning difficulties.

After finishing college my full time childcare career finally began. I worked in a nursery in Crewe as a Nursery Practitioner with 0-2 years old. After 8 months in this role I then became a 1 to 1 practitioner within the setting for a young child with Cerebral Palsy and on alternate days another child with a hearing impairment. This experience further developed my knowledge and skills with meeting the individual diverse needs of all children. As the children moved to pre-school I became a Lead Practitioner for 2-3 year olds. During this time I completed a course for Team Leadership and Management Skills as I experienced further aspects of childcare in a more senior role.

After working in the position for 12 months, I was ready for a new challenge. I immediately fell in love with Little Poppets and it fills me with great pride to be able to say I am now part of ‘Little Poppets’.
